Try and seek a definition of e-learning and you will get a
multitude of answers. Search the web and you will see a spread of solutions ranging from
text-on-glass, to mind-blowing 3D animations and even virtual reality.
The Virtual College take on e-learning is quite simple;
“e-learning is a vehicle, which uses technology to enhance the traditional approach to learning”
The definition doesn’t really matter, it’s the “e” that’s crucial.
In the early days e-learning got a bad press because it was portrayed as the replacement to
the traditional learning approach. Clearly this is not the case. In our experience the only route
to real success is the creation of a blended delivery solution which has the appropriate balance
of traditional and new delivery methodologies.
Where this optimum blend is achieved the benefits can be immense.
